I want to see if anyone has ideas of things to do in South Hampton Roads that are unusual or off the beaten path. For example, is there anywhere to rent kayaks? I'm sure there are other things. Something that people don't do on your average weekend.

I live in Chesapeake and know South Hampton Roads very well. I think I've done a good job of taking advantage of lots of things this area has to offer. But now I find myself approaching things like a local, not like a tourist.

My best friend is coming to visit next month (he's been here once before). He'll be here for three days. We're both turning 30 this year, so we're gettnig too old for bar-hopping and we're too young to sit around drinking coffee and swapping war stories.

Any ideas?!

Cold water doesn't frighten me too much. It just keeps me motivated not to tip over!

Thanks for the suggestion. I checked out the park Web site, and prices aren't bad at all. Definitely doable as an afternoon trip from the 'Peake.
