My husband and I are moving to VB soon. He is in the military, so of course he could always deploy. We were looking into the Alexandria and Courthouse neighborhoods. Would I feel safe if I were to live there alone when he is gone? Are these good neighborhoods? Or are they good places with bad places immediately next to it?

Court House is safe...
I lived about a block from Court House metro for 15 years when I was single and I always felt safe there (even when I walked from the metro or a restaurant at night). In fact, the Arlington County Court House is right around there. Alexandria is overall safe. There are some sketchy areas, but you'll notice them if you visit.

Confused, here. Usually, VB refers to Virginia Beach. Courthouse is, perhaps among other things, a neighborhood in Arlington, and Alexandria is...well, Alexandria, an entire city unto itself. Where is it that you are moving again?
