Little update:
Traffic in this area is TERRIBLE!!!
If the previous post in 2006 called the roads parking lots, 6 years later the roads are the same but the traffic is double and they just keep putting up homes.

Now that rt50 is finally under construction to an outdated design that only widens rt 50 by 2 lanes which will turn 50 with its two county interface non sychronized lights into rt 7 style nightmare for YEARS to come... Except it is worse, because of the luckstone and dubrooke heavy construction truck traffic blended in with minivans, school busses, and landscaping trucks. If it's finished by 2015, there will be a 3 lanes drag race between dump truck spewing dirt, cement truck dropping concrete, and some person doing their hair and shaving in a minivan. The light will turn green and all vehicles go the exact same 15 mph under whatever the speed limit until the next light, which will be red and out of sequence. It doesn't matter the time of day you will hit every light red and be behind a dump truck in the left lane.

The lack of planning by the county and board who benefit from all the tax base is borderline criminal. With the exception of Scott York, The people have voted out the county BOS 2x over the past 8 years goung from completely democrat to complete republican, but more houses are built and the roads remain the same!

At this rate it Looks like we will be voting in new reps at every election. LOUDOUN has let industrial businesses and residential developers line their pockets and fleece the people of any quality of life. Who mixes residential and industrial zoning??? Its planning 101: commercial buffers industrial and residential. In fact, major box stores overlook the area because the roads can't support people coming to south riding to shop.

October 2012 commute times: south riding starbucks to dulles toll road, 13 miles, 30- 45 minutes any time between 7 and 9am.
606 from 50 to 28: 20-30min 6:30am to 7:15am, after 7:15am stay home.

Commutes home , add 10minutes from 4 to 6:30.

Major backup on 50 at stonecroft due to poor maintenance of traffic, lack of que time, and un adjusted traffic signal.

VDOT and Shirley may have done a good job on 28, but rt 50 traffic management is a disaster so far.

The traffic during the rt 50 construction is terrible. The project will never be completed this year as projected. Good luck to all those living west of chantilly, the homes keep going up and the same little 2 lane cow paths exist from 50 years ago.

There were plans to expand 606, but the idiots who bought the homes near overland drive were protesting a major road going in their backyard. How stupid are they, what did you think was going to happen, now you want the only road around the airport to stay 2 lanes because you bought a house in the footprint of a major international airport?
