I am so proud to be a Virginian. I'm not saying it makes me superior, but it does help !

I'm a relatively recent transplant (less than two years) but I consider myself proud to play a part in one of the hottest state economies in the country, if not even "the" best. I know that Northern VA is considered "northern" in a lot of other ways... but I respect the diversity of cultures here, even if I have yet to experience much of it. For what it's worth, I've spent my share of time in the Hampton Roads area a while ago and I've got acquaintainted with Richmond since I arrived. I haven't spent much time in the W and SW except for driving through on a road trip. Perhaps I'll get the opportunity eventually.

I don't consider Northern Virginia "northern". Northern Virginia was called that long before it was ever a suburb of D.C.

Remember Lee's Army of Northern Virginia?

But I don't really consider it truly Virginia anymore because its so transient. Of course, the same could be said for Virginia Beach/Hampton Roads area.

I lived in Norfolk from '62-'66, and was stationed at Langley AFB (Hampton) from '80-'83. Additionally, I ran up an down I-81 and I-95 pretty regularly when I drove truck over-the-road. (I-81 is one of my favorite Interstates; I'm sorry to see so much development along it...) We have friends in Williamsburg and visit every chance we get! I love VA!!!

I'm a proud Virginian. Born and raised in NOVA. We've been here since May 1607.

Moved from California in 2006 and LOVE this state, proud to be part of it!
The history, beauty, culture, diversity and promise for the future are pretty darn sexy.

Yup! Became a "come here" in 1980 when I moved to from Balmer (sic) to Richmond for a job, and have been a "stay here" in the Northern Neck since 1981.
