Hello Zedp989 I live in Virginia as well. I ask a specialist (Doctor) about medical marijuana here, he almost fainted. So I ask my family dr. he was not as much against it he said. There is also a building in Richmond that was suppose to be used to house med. marijuana but we have never got the go ahead. No dr. here is able to give green med. marijuana cards. If you are serious you can apply at your local court house for a business licends to grow it. But you can be arrested if you do (grow.) In 1975 or 1979 I believe it was, congress gave the go ahead for Virginia to grow med. marijuana.. We are all tied up in red tape now. If you do grow, read on the internet and make copies of every thing you can find about the state you live in that is in favor of you growing. Have a good summer, sincerely, Linda G..

So, I have epilepsy, and am in the process of changing neurologists at VCU Medical facility (very liberal). I would like to contact someone of authority to make a necessary amendment to state law so that their policy will follow. Any suggestions? (not growing cause I live in the city)

As was posted previously in the forum, in order to possess medical marijuana in Virginia, you need a Doctor to prescribe it. That will Never happen as doctors risk losing their license to prescribe any medication if they do. Doctors license to prescribe medication is FEDERALLY legislated by the government. Specifically, the DEA. Therefore, there are no medical marijuana stores, there's no list of dr.s to go to, and since no doctor will write you a prescription, if you get caught, you will most likely go to jail. What needs to happen, is for the laws to be updated so that the wording doesn't state "prescribe ", but rather recommends the use, that way doctors don't risk losing their federally granted license. Until then, VA is stuck between a rock and a hard place. I went through this exact same issue where I live. The state had a law that stated a patient who qualified could grow as many as 12 plants but you had to have a doctors prescription. I got caught with 4 plants, far less than the max, but I was still arrested. Luckily for me, my stepdad is a doctor, so I knew first hand WHY it couldn't be prescribed, so I did the next best thing. I got my pain management doctor to write on a prescription note that he was aware of my use of cannabis, and that in his opinion it was beneficial to me. That saved me a nasty jail sentence, I still was given a criminal conviction, but received probation instead of jail time. So be careful, no matter what, by the current law, you will still get arrested

The government spends *YOUR* money cuz it's profitable for them to do so. Who pays for the enforcement? *YOU* do. Who pays to incarcerate people? *YOU* do. Who pays for the really neat military grade vehicles, weapons, and toys? *YOU* do. Who pays if they screw-up, and are sued? *YOU* do. When someone loses their job due to having a roach in their cars ashtray, and they are forced to take government assistance who pays for it? *YOU* do.
Who profits from the fines, cash, and property seized?
One example of THOUSANDS:--- Thomas Williams is a 72-year-old cancer patient in Michigan who has decided to use medical marijuana to alleviate his symptoms. In Michigan, patients can grow up to 12 plants at a time, so when Williams noticed a couple of his plants were dying, he started sprouting seedlings to replace them and maintain his supply.
While common sense would suggest that this is a perfectly reasonable gardening decision, local police disagreed. They battered down his door, raided his house in full SWAT gear, and handcuffed the elderly man on the living room floor while ransacking his home.
Here’s the real kicker, though: Williams was never charged with a crime—probably because, again, the only thing he did “wrong” is sprout some seeds—but the police still used civil asset forfeiture to rob him blind. They took his car, $11,000 in savings, and his shotgun. They’re also trying to take his house, but Williams is fighting this final theft in court.
His lawyer describes the asset forfeiture program as “straight-up theft,” because the “forfeiture penalty does not match the crime. It’s absurd. They grow an extra plant, and suddenly they’re subjected to forfeiture. A lot of my practice is made up of these kinds of cases: middle-aged, middle-income people who have never been in trouble before. It’s all about the money.”
You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll kiss your stuff goodbye.

Governor Terry McAuliffe signed a law back in February that allows for the use of cannabidiol for severe epilepsy.

I've got severe epilepsy. Where is a list or dr that prescribes Legal marijuana? The V A prescribes, other than that it seems nonexistent. Google won't allow a search for Virginia list of dry. I don't want a metal implant I know what helps me but not who. So legal on paper or legally obtainable?
