That BRT/LTR is just a simple replacement of the current Bus System which will not be as dependent as a High Speed Segregate Subway Rail.......
Tysons Corner wont have all that done till 2050. And even in 2050 it won't matter because Tysons Corner is only like 1-2 sq. miles. Gaithersburg is 10.2 sq. miles and will be about 15 sq. miles in 2050. Gaithersburg will be bigger than Tysons Corner for 40 years because Gaithersburg is doing their development now. Go check your facts. By the time Tysons Corner finishes their development, you will be dead or in a nursing home. Gaithersburg will be light years ahead of Tysons Corner in urbanity, transit, and density and Gaithersburg is a real city. Tysons Corner is not a city. Its unincorporated! Like I have mentioned before, cities get development done way faster than the county and at higher density. The plans in Gaithersburg by the city, county, and state should show you all three jurisdictions have major plans for Gaithersburg.

two quick comments:

1. Maryland is geographically southern possibly (i'd say it's mid-atlantic), but culturally, it is certainly NOT Southern.

2. Red line cannot sustain expansion to germantown or beyond. In fact there isn't even a Metro station in gaithersburg really--Shady Grove's at the border. The next metro station would probably be lakeforest area or something like that which is gaithersburg, not Germantown. Red Line expansion won't happen because there's no $$$, all the $$$ now is going on fixing escalators.

It will be interesting to see what happens with Metro, as usage demands are only going to increase, but Metro keeps raising prices and cutting service. Something will have to give.

BTW. Would be fun rush hour commutes on metro with a train starting at Germantown! It'd be packed by Rockville. Red Line doesn't get as full heading into DC (at least not before 8, i don't know about 8-9). I understand that the Orange line gets packed though?

Anyway digressed there a little bit.

You can't move to the city in Maryland expecting us to act country and southern like Virginia. Move south and you will be happy. I don't know what else to tell you. Virginia does have the right idea though making the Dulles Toll road drivers pay for the over 6 billion dollar silver line. Maryland should do the same thing making people north of the red line pay for the CCT on I-270.
Thats the devil in the details of what the so-called transit extremist Maryland hating anti-growth groups are hoping to do which is push Maryland Tax Payers to relocate into Virginia by abandoning important Maryland state Highway Projects and reducing the number of Office and Upscale Retail Growth.....
