Hello everyone. I have recently discovered that I will be relocating from Seattle to the DC area in June. My job will be in Rockville, and I was just wondering if anyone had any suggestions regarding places to live? I am looking for a studio/1br (1br being the preference) in a decent area for under ~1200$.

A little bit about me: I am young (25) and single, so I'd preferably like to live in a vibrant area where other young professionals tend to reside. I'll be selling my car before I move, so places with good public transit options would definitely be a plus. Living in Seattle I am no stranger to the daily commute, but in a perfect world I'd like to spend less than 45 min commuting.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!!

You might try to find something around the White Flint or Grosvenor station. Bethesda is an option though there won't be too many options.

If you want vibrant, walkable and close to transit you will likely need to increase your budget by a few hundred $.

Bethesda is it, man. But its probably the most expensive. Or perhaps live in DC or Chevy Chase, vibrant areas with young singles. Rockville Town Center is good, its just not DC. I was in Ballston recently, now that's a town I'd work in if I were a young buck! Shoot....ton and tons of singles, food and mass transit

Get a roommate or live somewhere like Columbia Heights.

Either live in Rockville or Bethesda. In Rockville, if you go to apartments.com there are a few options with 1 bedrooms under $1200. In Bethesda, you'd likely need a roommate. The goal around here is to get as short a commute as possible, or to try to go the opposite of traffic.

Honestly, VA is a better choice for 20-somethings, but you'll hate yourself for that commute.
