There used to be 3 pool halls on the I-270 side of Montgomery County (I have no idea about the Silver Spring area). There was a Buffalo Billiards in old town Gaithersburg, an Orange Ball Billiards on Hungerford Drive, and a Champions/Winstons on Rockville Pike. I just found out all 3 of them have closed.

The only place that I know of that has pool tables now is Dave and Busters at White Flint Mall, but I think they only have 3 tables or so. Of course White Flint is going to close, so who knows if D&B will move to another location in this area or not.

I know there is a pool hall in Downtown Silver Spring. The entrance is outside next to Chipotle. There's usually a bouncer at the entrance in the evenings. But kids are allowed during the day.

Wheaton has like five places to play pool... I'm sure there are more here.

They are really cheap, but I can't say they are nice places to play.

The American Legion is the cheapest and maybe the best, depending on the crowd you are looking for. Unless you buy your own bottle at the liquor store, I don't think you can drink anyplace cheaper than the AL either. Vets can get in....

I played pool several times on the tables in Germantown at the Hard Times Cafe.

There's a Meetup.com group called "Rockville Weeknighters" that holds regular after-work get-togethers on random weeknights, including trivia, billiards/darts/bowling nights, karaoke, and so on -- and Hard Times is one of the regular hang-outs for that group.

Hate to break the news but Galaxy Billiards will be closing in a next 2-3 months. City Place Mall is going through major renovations and new tenants have already signed up for the spot currently leased by Galaxy Billiards. No more pool in Silver Spring.

^ wow, that's news to me. I don't go up there as much as I used too but liked going to that mall to watch football games at Galaxy or hit up a movie. It'll be nice to see what the mall looks like once renovations are done

The pool halls are closing in part because the demographics of Montgomery County have changed. Far fewer blue collar whites than before.
