Naw, that's not my way. Plus I haven't received my first pension check so I don't want to rock any boats yet.

Having said that, the Benefits Office still isn't answering the phones nor have I received a call back from Thursday as of now.

I did call the various insurers a little bit ago and apparently I was reinstated. That doesn't cover the cancelled appointment charge but at least I now have the coverage back.

Still, that's a position that you should not be in, especially considering 32 years of service. Utterly ridiculous still.

But the MGM Grand and the 4% Property Tax increases were supposed to shape the schools by 2024

It wasn't just me, apparently it was a bunch of us.

Here's the thing, it just isn't this (or the bounced paycheck from years ago). it's the year in and year out, no matter who's in charge, stuff.

Running out of copy paper in May every year so you have to buy your own to finish out the year and do finals.

It's the running out of toilet paper every single year in the student bathrooms.

It's locking the student bathrooms because there's no money to fix whatever's broken.

It's having a purchase order and a school check to buy something but the vendor refuses to sell it to you because the school system owes them a bunch of money from two years ago.

It's not buying textbooks and expecting the students to go online with a super secret password to access the text and then not paying for that password. So the kids can't access the book.

Those are just SOP.

Come on man stop the belly achin'!

I'm sure PGCPS took great care of you and you probably retired (or were forced out for whatever reason) making 100 Plus K a year helping you to enjoy a great life in another county, adding to calverts revenue while still talking trash about the system, students, admin, etc that assited you to live your "north beach" lifestyle!-

They reinstated you why keep crying about it?

Who made "100 plus k a year"? If you think that you live in some other universe.

Yes they did reinstate it. But what about next month? And the month after?

You seem content to accept the incompetence. Why is that? But then you wonder why, when it comes to support from the State, when you look at the attrition numbers of teachers who get their Master's while working for Prince George's and then move to other Counties, when you look at the massive hole of suck the school system really is underneath all the happy talk press releases, nothing changes.

You, apparently, are content to be a laughingstock.

Same ****, different players.

The county made a mistake (everyone does except some guy name Jesus). The county fixed it so the entire school system is unfixable? If it was so godawful why exactly did you choose to be a part of it for 32 years?

Because the checks were regular.

Plus, when I interviewed in Calvert County I was told that I had taught Black kids for too long and wouldn't know how to deal with White kids. The funny part is that I was at a Prince George's school that was 70% White.

You totally ignored the other things I listed which happen every single year.

I guess, if you have kids in the system, that's all ok then.

I'm done.

Exactly, seems like an overreaction to me. You just retired so I'm not surprised a mistake was made. I've seen this happen in other large organizations with retirees and other administrative tasks. There is probably one person who made the mistake, but you can't use that to indict the entire school system.

Found out what happened. The person tasked with submitting the list forgot to and didn't remember until last week.

Would that be acceptable in your organization?

And no, it's not an "overreaction". It's "business as usual". Is that acceptable in your organization?

And again, it would be different if it was just one thing, but screw-ups happen time and time again. The pattern is here for those who look.

Like the CFO who was directed by the School Board to not pay severance to a dismissed employee but did anyway.

Like the other CFO and his auditor wife committing insurance fraud.

Or the Superintendent who was taking kickbacks.

Or the AD who was stealing Coke machine money.

The list goes on and on and on. Prince George's has an inferiority complex as it relates to other systems but you have to ask why. Other big systems don't have these issues or if they do they only happen once (well, except Montgomery appears to have an inappropriate relationship going on right between teacher and students).
