Lets clear the air here.

There are a good number of people on the DC board who hate gentrification because they believe they are "entitled" to live on land they don't own. Can you explain this?

DC does not belong to anyone. I don't get the sense of entitlement and ownership they have. I wish someone would explain it in terms that make logical sense.

The people who believe it's morally wrong for an outsider to move into a city and buy or rent property there are hypocrites, plain and simple. The "natives" born in DC didn't sprout out of the ground there like Adam and Eve in the Garden of Good and Evil. Their fathers, grandfathers, great grandfathers, etc. somewhere in their lineage moved to DC from somewhere else by buying or renting property here.
So it was ok for someone in 1950, 1900, 1850 or 1800 to move into DC... but it's not ok for someone in 2014 to do it. Pure hypocrisy, plain and simple.

And we are not even talking about the Native Americans.

Would you have said the same when the current "locals" grandparents moved to the city in previous years?

Is this true or is it simply a small handful of posters who post the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over...?

It's hard to tell. Some might have multiple accounts or start new accounts when they get banned by the mods.

The same reason why:

-gangs believe they own a few blocks.
-renters believe they own the place they are renting, as in the complaints about rising rent driving them out.
-school kids believe they own a certain table in the school lunch room.
-a dog believes he owns a certain area of the sofa to sleep.
-small town locals believe they own the town.
