I'm currently going through the same frustrations as you: All the listings are miscategorized house shares/roommates (after living by myself for a year and being in my late 20's, I don't think I'd be comfortable going back to a roommate situation), and when I advertised myself as an "apartment wanted" listing, I got replies from Alexandria and Woodbridge in VA when I need to stay in DC since I work there and am involved in activities there. Can people read anymore?!
I'm just getting settled in, and thought I'd check in here and see if there's any new leads for me here...

I'm staying temporarily in corporate housing in PG County, and looking for a place either here in PG or in DC. I'd rather stay in DC, but that's unlikely given my budget. My wish list describes a 2 or 3 BR townhouse with a garage, and at the very least 1.5 Bths for no more than $1500. I don't really care whether the neighborhood is wonderful, but I don't want to live in an area where drive-bys are common. If I absolutely MUST settle for an apartment, I don't want to spend more than $1200 and I want at least a 2/1.5.

So yeah, it's pretty tough... especially since my 3-level, double garage, 4/3 house in Atlanta was 4 years old and so much nicer than anything I've seen here, and cost me about the price of a 1BR apartment rental in MD/DC.

Keep me posted on your search. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.

I actually found something not too far from where I was living a few weeks ago. I just moved in two days ago. So I'm settled (more or less) and just getting used to the new place. It's more expensive than my last place, but very nice!

Once again, good luck and don't give up searching!
