Drove in today after landing at BWI, and did the ride in along 295 and NY Ave for the first time in at least a year. Could not believe how much better it looks, new buildings everywhere and fewer eyesores between Bladensburg Road and Downtown. Great to see so much investment in NE, and a key entrance to the city looking more appropriate for the nation's capital.

Big things happening on NY Ave. New development called Hecht Town near the old Hecht warehouse, which is now loft apartments. A beautiful thing.

I often wondered what the out-of-staters' first impression of DC would be. Couldn't be too good with the million homeless people and the shady crowd at the N Capitol intersection. I think Google Maps tells a lot of people who are driving through the DC area to go this route.

The speed that DC is improving at is amazing. Every time I visit an area I haven't been to in over a year I almost don't recognized it and sometimes I say to myself.. "When did THIS happen???" Case and point is NoMa and parts of Georgia Avenue. Seems to have changed overnight.

I love living in a city with new things to discover almost weekly.
