Hubby's job is relocating us to Whatcom County. I've been researching everything there is to the county (where to live, schools, etc) and I need help. It SEEMS that all the schools and homes are comparable across the whole county. I currently live in the most rural spot in the US (2 hours from shopping, restaurants, a WalMart/Target, etc), so commutes/ruralness doesn't scare me . So my question is, I have 3 small kids and want some more personal insight to residents in Bellingham/Ferndale/Blaine/Lynden/Everson/Nooksack....what are the advantages to where you live vs the other towns I've listed. Crime stats, school stats (ratio of teachers to kids), etc. I can see it online, but "hearing" it from the horse's mouth tends to reveal so much more.

We will be renting for a bit to familiarize ourselves with the area before buying a home, so I want to do my research.

TIA!

Sounds like a good plan.
The county has many pinch points of traffic which can make a short commute take a long time. A more specific location of hubby's employment would help alot....city and which side of I-5?
