My family is relocating to Gig Harbor within the next month. I am having difficulties finding any preschools that take a 21 month old full-time. I will be working in Bremerton so either location is fine. I would probably prefer Gig Harbor just so that we could have a chance to meet other families in the area where we will be living. I ideally would love a program that offers lots of time outdoors interacting with nature. The program he is at now offers swimming, spanish, sign language, gym class and dance but I'm sure it may be hard to find another comprehensive program like that. If anyone has any recommendations I would love to hear them as I will have to secure some kind of childcare before starting work

I noticed a lack of response. I'm familiar with the areas but not the day care available. Gig Harbor is tiny, with only about 7,000 people so you are not likely to get many people with ideas for you there. Bremerton is bigger but still small, and with a big naval facility, many of the wives stay home. There may be good preschools there but you will have to be patient for someone that knows to see your post. It's like a different world from Seattle and the eastside though only a ferry ride across the water.

Try In His Hands. I have a co-worker who has a young son there all day. It's in North Gig Harbor, very convenient to the HWY for a commute up to Bremerton.

Default Preschool/Daycare

I don't know about the Bremerton preschools but I agree that the kids our families make a lot of connections from the preschool classes. We have two preschool age children and here are my suggestions...

Gig Harbor Academy/Our School - GHA has 4 preschool options and the kids get spanish, art, music and PE weekly. The school continues on through 5th grade and there is a heavy emphasis on outdoor activities, nature, and it is a beautiful wooded campus. On the same campus is Our School - they offer daycare from early morning to, I believe, 6:30pm. And, they teach preschool while the kids are there, too. The combined programs are a little pricey, but a really great program.

There are the usual kindercare and miniskool programs here, too. They offer the preschool and then daycare format as well, but I have heard they don't focus as much on academics and specialists, however, they are less expensive. If a religious preschool is not out of the question for you, Chapel Hill has numerous programs for kids and is an enormous church - the local MOPS meets there, too.

I would check out all of these programs online - there is a plethora of info on each!

Other options would have to be seperate preschools and daycare. But other highly regarded preschools among us moms include Rainy Dayz, Stepping Stones (christian) and Discovery Village.

Good luck finding something that works for you!
