I am sick and tired of the silly controversy about Texas being "better" than California. There is only one place in the nation that beats the pants off California: Washington State ... and here's why (language alert ... but it's the only good way to make the ****ing points):

CAMP666 : WASHINGTON IS BETTER THAN YOUR STATE

Unfortunately I can agree with this. Washington is far more of a threat. Seattle has the educated population many busineses look for and is already home to some major players. The one huge company to leave Seattle didn't go to Texas but to Chicago. Boeing moved it corporate headquarters to Chicago but still has it's main operations in Seattle. Of course Seattle is coffee heaven being the home of Starbucks, Seattle's Best and Tully's. It also has Costco, Nordstrom and Microsoft. Google has two campuses in the Seattle area. Californians are definitely going there. Just ask anyone in Washington about that and they'll tell you in no uncertain terms.

Of the city's population over the age of 25, 53.8% (vs. a national average of 27.4%) hold a bachelor's degree or higher, and 91.9% (vs. 84.5% nationally) have a high school diploma or equivalent.[225] A United States Census Bureau survey showed that Seattle had the highest percentage of college and university graduates of any major U.S. city.[226] The city was listed as the most literate of the country's sixty-nine largest cities in 2005 and 2006, the second most literate in 2007 and the most literate in 2008 in studies conducted by Central Connecticut State University.[227]

Yes ... and, as one comment to the link wrote, if freedom is what you love:
"Add I-501! Weed is legal here. You can get blazed as f**k and marry a dude if you want. That's freedom."

Eat your heart out Rick Perry ... you just can't compete with freedom ...

It is a magnet for at least two young couples I know...

They have never been and decided to move when pot became legal... Nice enough kids... I remain curious if Washington is to their liking...

Every single person and couple I knew who moved there stayed a year or two, then moved back.

Couldn't take the rain, the chill, the sunless, gloomy days that stretched into weeks, the coffee house "culture," the weird day-night cycles of a latitude so far north.

The latitude is similar to other great metros around the world...

I do know people that miss the sun too much and have returned...

Also know quite a few LA transplants that take a sun vacation every January...

The 20 and 21 year old in the couple mentioned and their friends have definitely noticed the new WA laws...
