I guess the real question is the effect of immigration on Washington...

California certainly has areas that are very liberal... friends live in the Santa Cruz mountains and it seems no one gives a second thought to personal use...

Don't have to go all the way to WA for that...

The rain and gloom is only West of the Cascades. Want sun and dry heat and excellent coffee, go where I went, Spokane.

Too many Canadians in WA from what I've heard.

I lived in SoCal for a while, then lived in Seattle, and now I'm in the Bay Area, which is pretty much the best of both worlds.

If it ever came to that, I'd sooner move to Oregon than to Washington anyway -- and many Californians agree, judging from that chart.

How much snow y'all getting in Eastern Washington now? I know it's hot over 100 some and snows in winter, as I was born there in Wenatchee and get the reports from my parents. Spokanes nice, but I don't like to live in snow. Course they are getting less snow now generally maybe..

I do like their apples though.

Yeah, lots of folks don't have the cojones it takes to be a true Nothwesterner.

the Canucks come down for the warmth and sun ... Then they scurry back to cuddle with their moose ... You get used to them wearing sunglasses in January and saying "eh" at the end of every sentence. Really frosts my shorts they way they can't adopt our language though. And then there's all those anchor babies. You Californians are watching the wrong border. Threat is from the 'nort'.

Hilariously true. What they don't realize is that Oregon weather, though a couple degrees warmer than Washington in winter, is actually worse.

It's not for everyone that's for sure. It is as similar to California as it's possible to get though.
