Good point, except he states he's majoring in criminal justice, so local police departments, state patrol, campus police are possibilities. Or corrections...don't know how much of that is around Ellensburg.

Possible, yes, probable, maybe not. In a bigger job market, you're not betting on one or two jobs coming through. Smaller town also likely means lower pay.

I think Ellensburg looks nice and safe. I feel it's better than Connell

I think Ellensburg looks nice and safe. I feel it's better than Connell. Ellensburg has more job opportunities according to Google and city-data. What do you guys think?

Walla Walla or Wenatchee.

I am not keen on Ellensburg (unless you work at CWU)
It is a college town with very little high paying industry. That can be a disaster... unless you land a GOOD job at the U.

You FIRST job might be EZ to find... your next may now be found! (limited employment / word gets around / MANY takers (college kids and dependents of college staff)

Job-wise, I'm not sure how much Ellensburg has to offer, although Connell probably doesn't either.

Other than that, Ellensburg is an awesome little town - I have considered moving there multiple times.

It's a college town, so there will be plenty of younger people, but it's also not a town (like Pullman, for example) that is completely and totally dependent and revolves around the college - in other words, you can live there and not feel like a complete outsider if you're not enrolled in CWU.

Real estate and rental costs are decent - cheaper than many other parts of Washington, but still probably expensive compared to Nebraska.

And, it is just under a 2-hour drive over the mountains to Seattle, so all the amenities you could ever need are fairly close, but far enough away that you don't have to deal with all the urban crap.
