Hello everyone,

I and my family are planning to move to Washington, but we do not know what city or area to move to. Please can someone give us a good advice or suggestion on what city or area to move to. Google showed me places like Connell, e.t.c. I will prefer safe area for adults and to raise kids, less expensive, and employment with good pay. Hope to read from you guys.

Thanks

Go for Connell or Lind, probably the closest thing to Nebraska in WA. (As a Husker myself).
Lind's Weekend

As always... Please give us a clue!
  • Climate desires (we have areas from 100+ inches drizzle / yr to 12 ") No snow; to LOTS of snow
  • Proximity to events / airport / healthcare / schools (10 minutes or 5 hrs? both are possible in WA)
  • What is your idea of less expensive? (Seattle is less expensive than a lot of places, yet is pretty expensive for WA)
  • What is good pay?
  • What is your skill set / work requirements?
  • What are your kid's interests / needs?
  • What are your hobbies / recreation? (i.e. if gardening... some places are great and some are terrible)

Welcome, fellow HUSKER! My wife and I moved out here from Lincoln, Nebraska 5 years ago and absolutely love it.

As StealthRabbit pointed out, there are so many different types of places to live out here- the western half of the state is very green and wet/mild in winter and dry and warm but not hot in summer, with the eastern half of the state being more like the Midwest with cold winters and hot summers. The landscape is also drastically different on each side.

The Seattle area would be the place to be for lots of high paying career opportunities (that's where we live) but the down side of course is the very high cost of housing. If you can post some items from your wish list maybe some good recommendations could be made.

What kind of work do you & your wife do? That would be first consideration, I think, especially in the smaller towns.

Wow, huge change coming up for ya! Why would you ever want to leave Nebraska?

Redmond is probably the safest.

Thanks for your reply guys. Less expensive to me is not paying $1,500 for a 4brd apartment. Education wise to me is a good school system that has high standardize test scores. Good pay to me is 35k -40k per year. Am a student who is majoring in Criminal Justice, while my wife's skill sets are administrative, clerical work and customer service specialist work. Family oriented activities like is there a zoo, amusement park? Not like actually here where I have to drive 3 hours to Denver to have family time and visit a zoo. I want to leave Nebraska because I need more job opportunities and Gering Nebraska is not for the young, but for the retirees.

Seattle, Tacoma, and Portland all have excellent zoos. Probably the closest thing to an Amusement Park would be Wild Waves.

The Seattle-Bellevue area is very expensive. You can find a 4-bd apt/house for under $1,500 in the Tacoma, Olympia, Vancouver, or Spokane areas. Finding a place for that much with good schools will be the bigger challenge.

I know that earlier this year, the state was recruiting for correctional officers, I think it's still open recruitment.

Is Spokane a with good schools for kids? A nice safe place to live, earn good wages, and have a good family time?
