Yeah, in Forks the annual rainfall is measured in fathoms.

is someone trying to be funny with this statement?

Oregon's job situation in general makes the Western WA economy look like boomtown USA. You do not move to Oregon unless you have a job nailed down, or enough money to coast 6 months to a year or more while you try to improvise something. Portland area might be a bit of an exception, but the wages to cost of living ratio is even worse than the Seattle area.

Boeing having a layoff is not even a noticeable glitch in the Seattle area anymore, except for a very select group of tech jobs. Now if Google/Amazon/Microsquish all had a major layoff at the same time....the area might be toast.

I have been attempting to bail out of Western WA for the Bend OR area. The only good thing about searching for a job in Bend, is that it only takes a couple minutes to review ALL the job listings for all of Central Oregon.

But don't take my word for it, do your research.

And....the tulip festival only lasts one month. It is all over Skagit County. I don't think La Conner even has tulip fields. The tulip festival is a one or two day venture at most and is exceedingly crowded during the Festival, particularly if you go on a weekend. La Conner is a nice weekend trip from Seattle, but I would never consider it commuting distance. Where in Seattle will you job be?

I don't think La Conner even has room for any tulip fields. I love La Conner - I would consider retiring there, actually. Love the red bridge over the Skagit River. There is a nice little park just east of the bridge. And from the bridge you can see cool views of the town and the river. Beautiful views!
