Remember a few years ago when the Washington forum was full of Twihards from all over the country who wanted to move to Forks? There were some who insisted the movies had nothing to do with their interest, but it's hard to imagine how anyone who isn't from the PNW would even know Forks existed.

Nothing seem to dampen (pardon the pun) their enthusiasm; not the 120" of annual rainfall, the lack of jobs, the lack of stores, the clear-cutting, nothing.

Seems like the fascination has worn off. I wonder if anyone who posted asking about the place ever moved there?

I think I remember reading about one guy that moved there and found a seasonal job...not sure what happened with him. What's funny is the majority of the movie isn't shot anywhere near there.

Tee-hee. I've tried Forks and lost a job there for no good reason. It's a tough crowd ta work there. I'll leave it at that. Went to work in the woods and left so I didn't cut one of my limbs off. Went to Port Angeles and eventually to Lynnwood. I got a job as a janitor at Top Foods in Everett in '85 and then called up my old boss at Boeing's Everett Division. Previously I worked at Everett Boeing from '79 to '82. Then got the above job in Forks in March of '83. Jobs were very hard ta come by in the early 80's!

Back to Boeing in Nov. of 1985 I went and then laid off again in May of 2003. Got 20 years in overall and qualified for a pension. Then used the Trade Act to train in a medical career, which I'm still in today. Uncle Same paid for the training, books and all. And, by keeping up my grade point, I received State of Washington Unemployment Insurance weekly while I studied medical in college. Boeing lobbied in Washington, D.C., to help make this available. Pretty cool beans - I have to say thank you to the planemaker, yes I do!

That's right, it wasn't. And when people would gently try to explain that the real Forks didn't look anything like the one in the movies, it didn't seem to dissuade them in the least.
