This is the 2nd airport in the Seattle area to offer major flights. About 41 miles north of SeaTac.

Whether this will grow from here is unknown.

I suspect it shall--north side avoiding that commute will make it worth it if the routing / # of departures makes it doable (and Sound Transit has a decent tie in).

Something like it in Dallas (DFW vs DAL / Love Field) already works rather well (I fly into/out of DFW 3x a month and once at DAL). DFW has an absolutely huge footprint, but Love Field has taken on a sizable portion of flights and has built its terminal accordingly. It was a business jet / GA airport like Paine prior to the expansion.

Good news for the north side and no significant downside for SEATAC as it will only grow so much.

What is current air traffic noise in Everett? Considering a move there in a few months.

Paine is located just southwest of Everett near Mukilteo. The main runway is N/S and runs north over the Sound and south over some residential areas, but the noise is not a huge issue. You could also be comforted that most jets today are much quieter than the old days. Paine will originally host Alaska and United. Additional traffic is unknown at this time.

Actually Love Field was the primary Dallas airport until 1974 when DFW opened.

For anyone on Whidbey Island this is the best news of the new year. Paine Field is 10 minutes from the Ferry in Mukilteo. Just super!

I wonder if this will affect Alaska service from Bellingham?

That's cool for y'all up that way. I'd love to try it, but it doesn't make sense for where I'm coming from.
