The shops all are full of stuff made from shells and driftwood. Artistic but redundant. Walking the beach is really over rated. Most of the time it is cold and windy and the rain blows sideways. There is a casino but I don't think gambling is a reasonable long term pastime.

Maybe move there and stay in your parents house but look it as temporary.
I may have misunderstood, but I thought the OP said, she wants to sort of cocoon for awhile, lick her wounds, and figure out what her next steps in life would be. Dating while trying to recover from a failed relationship doesn't sound like a good idea, nor like something she's interested in.

Perhaps the OP could clarify what she means by "being more social". Getting involved in the community? Perhaps making a new friend or two, or just being around people, mixing and mingling? I don't imagine that "being more social" would be an option during Covid restrictions. I don't know what the status of that is in WA, and in the more isolated counties.

Indeed it would be good to know what kind of social the OP is interested in.

Bars and restaurants are open, as are the touristy shops around Ocean Shores. I think they'll be getting good business soon as the weather improves for summer. People are venturing out.

Sounds like fun. A nice beachy, touristy area to explore and relax in, with occasional trips to other towns, might be just the ticket for the OP.

I think restaurants in my state were allowed to open a month or two ago, but I don't know of any, that have dared take that step. I honestly think it was premature, for our state, but WA may be in better shape in terms of infection rates.

What? Restaurants can open but they aren't? I'm surprised. Where are you?

Ours have been open at limited capacity quite a while, in rural communities, even moreso.

I do think Ocean Shores is a pretty good place to come right now. Always fresh air, lots to enjoy outside. Summer is coming, and if someone is an artsy type, there's a lot of touristy shops they might be able to sell some things in.

It would work for me, anyway! Depends what kind of vibe the OP is looking for.

I would say until last week only 30% had seating (of the places we visit). Not the Starbucks which is 50% of our local coffee shops. None of the fast food.

OK I haven't tried to go IN a fast food place... but our regular favorite local restaurants are open inside. At least the ones that are still alive. I'm afraid we lost some in the shutdown.

We have been doing our part to support them! I love to eat out.

Come summer, half the fun of being at ocean shores is to eat outside, so that should only get better.

New Mexico. Hospitalizations peaked and pushed capacity over the winter, so a lot of restaurant owners feel it's premature to re-open for indoor seating right now. Indoor seating was tried last fall, then shut down again within a few weeks, due to a jump in infection rates, so restaurateurs are leery. They want to keep their staff safe, too.

Are they just doing takeout then, or is it warm enough down there to do outside? Or are they just closed?

I would advise a search on this site of Ocean Shores. Plenty of good info to be found. I have not been shy to share my thoughts on this community. I won’t repeat them here, but suffice to say I do not recommend.

I'm also living in New Mexico, and restaurants here are selling food takeout and some, like Wild Wings, have tents outside that they're having people dine under. I think Applebee's has a tent, too.

The other day the Mrs. and I drove down White Sands Blvd. and saw Denny's with pert-near every parking spot filled with a car and wondered if they're serving customers inside or they're in line to pick up their food.

We had just devoured our Carl's, Jr. cheeseburgers in our car.
