In Dec/Feb the ranges are even closer (lol).

Yes, there are better places (like the Caribbean), but Miami is still a great winter resort. It makes south Texas look very cold.
Then again, Honolulu's record low is 20 degrees higher then Miami's! It also has no annoying winter temperature swings like Miami does.

From the way I understand it…it can be difficult it compare any two places SST.

As far as Miami/South Florida…in the coldest months SST are in the low – mid 70’s. In the hot season (May through October) SST are in the 82 – 84 F range. Its not uncommon for SST to crack 85 F out to the Bahamas (in open water), while shallow waters near the beach might even see 86/87 F SST.

In terms of SST in the USA, Hawaii never gets as warm as south Florida. Only the USVI can compare with Florida in the hot season. In fact, beyond the Middle East (Persian Gulf...ect) and maybe near the equator in the southern hem off Indonesia/Australia - few places in the world have SST that get as high as off Miami/SF.

Yes, the same current (the Gulf Stream) that allows Britain to grow subtropical plants passes straight by the S.E. peninsula.

You have some personal hate for Miami, and that's fine. However, Miami is one of the best winter resorts in the world. That's why millions flock there in winter. The numbers (and booked hotels) don't lie.
I relocate to Miami right now and I know why a lot of people hate it,the weather is not one of the main reasons I guess most people consider MIAMI as a 3rd world country and rude people however i didn't experience this but of course there are a lot of crazy people living here,Miami worst aereas are 1st class neighbors in south america people should travel more

Having travled to many world cities (London, Paris, NYC, LA, ...etc) it seems that each city has it's skid row and rich areas. Being wealthy in any city is easy, and being poor in any city can be tough.

I guess at least in Miami or Rio...rich or poor, at least you'll be warm

yes i was talking in general but i know some people dont like it here because they consider i don't how to say, like one of the places with lowest level of the Usa,however i dont care there are beutiful neighbors here to explore and yes i will be warm here,on a personal note warm weather is always better than cold ones, they make you more healthy ,fit and you do socialise a lot more,i spend a lot time outdoors i couldn't do that in a colder climate ,they make you weaker and you want to be lock at home, this is my personal opinion..

The std deviation as calculated from 1971 to 2000. It is 6F for the max and around 9 for the min. The Jan mean max temp based on 1971 to 2000 is 76F. The std deviation in Jan for the max temp in most places in the east north of FL is round 10F. The ocean helps Miami, plus the weakening of cold fronts by the time they get over all that land.

Gulf Stream is the responsible for both hurricanes and warmer climate in Europe. That's why cities in about same latitude as New York and Lisboa have so much different winters.

Its effects over Miami and Florida in general are a higher rainfall and warmer averages than West Coast, which suffers from mild weather due to California Stream.
