We've had a couple of frosts this week but also three days with highs in the upper 60s. The next few days should be great but just look at next week! Absolutely foul -- a whole week of rain, cold and cloud. I don't want to be seeing this garbage in the middle of spring! Really upset and unhappy about this.

Reality check - as far as September is concerned, it has been a benign month overall for NZ. Mean temps. are slightly down on average over the country, but sunshine has been well above almost everywhere, including your area - bordering on 125% of normal. Nelson has also recorded the highest ever NZ total of sunshine for combined Aug-Sep. Most of the country has been drier than normal as well, your region being among the leading ones. I would never ask for rain given my preferences, but the fact is that the agricultural/pastoral sectors will welcome some considerable rain next week, not least in your area. Until you move to somewhere much warmer than any part of NZ, you need to adjust your expectations to reality.

Doesn't look bad at all.. I'd be happy with a 19C high and no frost in the forecast for early spring

We had one day of fall because of a cold front. It hit 64 °F / 18 °C. It should get into the upper 40s this morning. This is peak weekend to go to the mountains to see the fall colors for the upper half of Colorado. And with this weekend's temps in the low 80s, I think I will go to the mountains.

What causes these crazy diurnal swings in a maritime climate?

I'm just sick of almost never feeling comfortable outside. It's always either too cold, cloudy, windy or rainy. I'm waiting for BBQ weather but it never comes.

Today's high was a mere 14 C, 4 C lower than forecasted! There was also a horrible cold gusty wind and the cloud didn't clear until late in the afternoon. Not at all happy about this.

I am dreading next week's murderous rainfall, gloom and cold temps. The forecast reminds me of that horrible spell of heavy rain in May of last year. I still shudder to think of it.

"Doesn't look bad"? Did you see the forecast for next week? Highs around 10 C (even lower on one day!) and lows not much above freezing coupled with heavy rain (and strong winds on some days). This is not "early spring", this forecast is for the 4th - 9th October -- mid-spring, during which the highs should be in the mid-to-high teens.

Yes, but it's not abnormal for others' mid-spring.
