There's no way I'm getting in water under 70 degrees. It's just not gonna happen. Even when swimming extremely hard in 72 degree water, I'm still cold. Pools for competitive swimming are usually around 78 to 80 degrees. So if you're talking about casual swimming, or just wading around in water, anything below that can be quite uncomfortable for many people. The 60s and 50s is just ridiculous.

My minimum is about 77 degrees for laps (water temp). 80-81 degrees water temperature for just being in the water. Ideal is about 84-85.

80+ preferably but I could go with a few degrees cooler too. Although I was at the Ocean a couple of weeks ago and it was nowhere near 80 and I was still walking to about knee deep into the water. Not swimming, I know, but it was fine doing it and didn't feel too cold.

Two weeks ago i tried swimming in the then 18°C warm water of the sea, felt comfortable for about 15-20 minutes but then it got too cold quickly. So its a nice temperature for a splashing around, but for a comfortable longer swim it should be 20°C/ 68°F and above.

I prefer the water at least 30C (86F) and the air temp about the same.

I swam in the lake yesterday, which the lake was definitely no warmer than 18-19ºC. Air temperature was 26ºC and it actually was pretty nice.
I've swam in an outdoor pool at an air temp of 19ºC so i'll go with that as my swimming temperature.

About 28C/82F for water and 26C/79F for air i guess, it's bit lower than our (Pekanbaru) average. I've swim in coldish water (i guess it was about 22C/72F in water and 20C/68F in air) in Bandung and I only bear it for 15 minutes (even I thought that I've "suddenly" lost my swim ability - because of that cold)!!!
