Weekly Analysis
Patricianopolis remains on track for the third-coolest August on record, with an average high of 51.9 (-11.6 from normal) and an average low of 33.0 (-7.8 from normal). Conditions for most of the month have been quite autumn-like, with nights frequently bottoming out in the 20's. Sunshine was dominant before the current storm, which is the exact opposite of last August. Aside form 0.05 inches of rain received on the 1st, there was no precipitation received this month until the current storm which began on the 26th. Flurries were reported on the 22nd, but not even a trace of precipitation was recorded.
The current storm is forecast to dump over 4 inches of rain on the region before it moves out on the 30th. Such a rain event is quite unusual for Patricianopolis, especially this early in the year. Abnormally chilly conditions will persist and even intensify as the rain keeps daytime temperatures from reaching 50F. Widespread flooding is expected, and a variety of flood watches, warnings, and advisories have been posted. The most intense shot of cool air so far this season is forecast to arrive in the wake of the storm, and tie the monthly record low of 20F. This is forecast to be the last burst of polar air for a while, as the flow will change concurrent with vastly increased daily ranges on the 31st of August and 1st of September. There will be a burst of warm air ahead of a storm system which will impact on the 3rd. In the wake of this storm the temperatures will once again plummet. How much they will plummet and if the chilly pattern will reassert itself afterward remains to be seen.
Here's the summary for my fantasy climate (which I have not named yet)
Avg max 23.4c
Avg min 9.4c
Rainfall 58.3mm
Max temp 32.2
Min temp 2.1c
Sun 289.4 hours
Warmer than average during the day but cool at night, very dry and very sunny with the highest maximum temperature for 4 years, thanks to a 3 day hot spell.
