We have 184.6 in 19 days and there's a chance that our all-periods 28-day record (only back to 1954 though - older dailies not in database yet) may be beaten (25 Jan - 21 Feb). But it requires a cloudier eastern coastal change to wait until evening.
Update: Needed 9.5 hours today to reach the 28-day mark of 300.6 - looking good now if things stay clear a couple of hours longer.
Christchurch (22 days) 177.7 Queenstown Aero (19 days) 180.1 New Plymouth (20 days) 233.1 {too high, but it has been an exceptionally sunny month there}
Locally the record to beat for February is 267.4, a fair chance at present.

Some impressive totals there!
Our monthly average is being dragged in a southward direction as the month continues. To the 24th, our total is 173 hours (avg of 7.2 hours/day). We've only had one day since the 11th that exceeded 10 sunshine hours.
We've had some big falls this month with 45.2mm recorded yesterday and given we are currently experiencing rain (some bursts quite intense) I expect our monthly total could easily exceed 200mm. Consequently, I expect very little sunshine between now and the 28th.
Long range forecast is for more rain and another system later this week.

March for a bounce-back? At least you're well ahead of the record Feb. low (of about 98 hours I think).
