Locally the February record will have been matched with a day to spare. Another bright day on the 28th would see an all-months record for % of possible set as well. In terms of feasible/credible totals recordable at EWS sites this month, New Plymouth and any sites further south with a fully open exposure would have measurable Feb. totals of 380 hours or more. 80% of possible has been recorded in a few cases in the Feb. records so totals for such sites of up to 300 hours are not beyond reasonable if cloudiness has been exceptionally low.
Wow, very impressive and certainly "payback" time .
Everytime I go to stuff.co.nz I notice a sunny weather icon....
Sadly I don't have the exact stats, but this winter has been one of the cloudiest in 50 years. From December to mid-February some 41 hours. The last two weeks has been a lot sunnier, but as the average for February is 75 hours, it's not sufficient to even get close to an average winter, but might still not be cloudy enough to make it to the top 3.
I don't exactly know how this complete lack of sunshine has affected my mood, as I haven't really thought about it, but I've been tired a lot. Sports activities, alcohol and vitamin supplements seems to be good medicine combating winter depression.
Awful spell of weather coming up with E/SE winds dominating the outlook and previous Marches when these winds have dominated have recorded monthly totals of less than 60 hours - as low as 30 hours in March 1964

Aberdeen's February had nearly 20 hours more than my Jan+Feb combined.
Jesus christ that would drive me insane.
First 4 days of March here:
48.4 hours / 12.1 per day. The dullest day this month so far is 12 hours
