It would have to be a very strong cold shot, otherwise you would get a lake-effect rainstorm. However, the colder it is the more intense the precip would be, until you get a supercharged snowstorm.

Great comments everyone! Our storms are not lake effect, but rather lake enhanced. Those pesky low pressure systems cause our heaviest snowfalls, and if they stall over the lake, snow can be heavy.

This will be by 6th winter in Two Rivers and the 1st two were very snowy, over 100" double the normal amount. Next one was average, last two below average.

A friend found my snowblower for $ 75.00. Self-propelled, 5 forward, 2 reverse, would cost around $500. probably. He changed the oil, checked it over, shined it up looks like new! I wasn't going to buy new, we've been looking for a used one since I got here. Family bought this one for their mother and she didn't like it, or use it. I'm sure the family was less than thrilled to hear she sold it for so cheap!

A lake Michigan that was regularly 80F degrees would be fun. I'm all for moving the great lakes to about Georgia's latitude! Better swimming, and lake-effect climates I can be charmed by.

Only potential downside: a lake Erie chocked full with gators. No wait, that would be awesome.

Does anyone have update on the Lakes temperatures?

Re-reading this post it looks to be coming true based on latest GFS. WOW. If the Jet keeps dipping and digging to the East people around the great lakes could be in for it.

Great Lakes Temperature Update. 9/30/12. Lake Superior has cooled off into the 40s and low 50s. Lake Michigan is warmer in the upper 50s and 60s. Lake Huron mostly in the 50s. Lake Erie is the warmest at mid to upper 60s. Lake Ontario is mixed with 50s on the Western Side and 60s on the Eastern side.

The normal temp for this day for Lake Erie is 64° so it looks like Lake Erie is above normal at this point..

Wow, great map and look at the temps by the bump out that is Two Rivers! Very interesting, I think as the coldest part of Lake Michigan is opposite the bump!

My sister is in the UP at the top of the bay that forms Green Bay still on the orange side, whereas we are turning towards yellow.

Just saw the weather report, we're above average (mid to high 60's) but end of the week the bottom falls out. They claim we won't see mid-50's, more like 50/51 and that is 10 below average! You called it Cambium, no snow though!

Thanks. Appreciate it. Just showing what the models are showing. Yeah, Michigan will miss out on the snow. They'll be on the western side of the Low, too far west. The polar air will start dropping over Montana tomorrow then slide Eastward but now we're going off topic here. :-)
