Yep. Snow free winters are not unusual here, or for other parts of the south coast, I have recorded many of them in the past...

After the cold December in 2010 the rest of the winter (Jan/Feb 2011) was quite mild & last winter was mild apart from a 10 day cold snap in February, but we got no snow. Infact last winter my first & last airfrosts were recorded in February!

Well, we are rural and further north with lower sea temperatures so it is easy to get a frost early. It is common to get ground frosts in the summer here.

I think it would be very late to get a first frost in december. I think there are some frost hollows in london like benson which might have gotten an early frost this year.

Nope, winter up to February was mild. Most years I don't record my first air frost until around Christmas time, because it has been mild recently I have yet to record an air frost this winter, lowest so far has been 0.2C.

Having lived here all my life I am used to not seeing snow very often, I can remember being very upset as a child when the news would show snow across much of the UK & we had rain

Benson is in Oxfordshire. Northolt is in greater London & they can often be they coldest spot in 'London'... Though Northolt is far out from the centre of London proper. Central London probably hasn't gone below 0C yet either...
