"Overall, I expect the true influence of La Nina to show up in April however with the MJO moving into phases 4 and 5 just before March, look for the Southeast ridge to take hold by mid March. With La Nina taking hold for the Spring, I think the severe season is going to be rather active for the Southern Plains, Mississippi River Valley (especially around Missouri and Kentucky), the Ohio River Valley, and the eastern Great Lakes. For locations to the east, like the Mid Atlantic of course, I think the Southeast ridge will be a major influence on our weather pattern and that would suggest a very warm Spring and a hot summer possible

Now, what I think we will see is a powerful ridge building over the Eastern United States. The words, hot and dry, will be heard frequently I think. The heat ridge will start to build from the Southeast into the Mid Atlantic. I'm going to keep an eye on the stratosphere possibly developing a cool pool over the East coast that will help to enhance the La Nina impacts.

So if you like warm weather and dry conditions, than I think you'll like this Spring and Summer a lot."

Well, it is now meteorological Spring, so let's get the Spring ball rolling. Spring-like weather and vegetation is appearing in certain regions, especially the subtropics, and if you have observations of that nature you should post them here. If your location is still in the clutches of winter, then you should post there. Use your best judgment as to which is most appropriate. As Cambium implied in the original post, long-range forecasts for March, April, and/or May should be posted here.

This may seem presumptuous for me to post guidelines for a thread I did not create, but I'd like to bump this thread, and these guidelines are sensible and have been generally accepted in previous seasonal threads.

Almond trees are starting to bloom already! Spring is definitely around the corner.

<- That's what they look like.

Spring Long Range Forecast - UK

I C quite a few UK weather websites have released their spring LRF. However, they all seems to say the opposite. So I shall instead offer my far more advanced (and accurate) version:

March: Colder than average. Often dull.
April: Colder than average. Often dull, wet and windy.
May: Colder than average. Often dull, wet and windy.

Confidence: 100%.

I shall check back on June 1st.

Seems stable and predictable.

'It's spring. Wanna bbq tomorrow?'
'Sure they say it's gonna be another beautiful dull day again!'

Enjoy while you can.

First warmish spell of this spring here. Some weather stations had a big diurnal range today, like Romorantin, central france, with 17.8/-4.2°C (64/24.4°F). More modest in Paris-Orly with 13.5/-0.2°C (56.3/31.6°F). Today and yesterday were also the first days of the year that featured more than 10 hours of sun in Paris.

current snow cover. seems a bit of an overestimate, the lowest levels have patchy snow, maybe more in wooded areas:

National Snow Analyses - NOHRSC - The ultimate source for snow information

A lot may melt in the next week. Of course, more snow is possible
