Ironically, you live in one of the places on the continent that provides some pretty amazing winters.

Wanna switch places? We get semi-decent winters on LI but nothing compared to NB. Your average lows are somewhat comparable to our record lows in each month (looking at St. John data).

I like winter when it's around or below freezing with dry air, some snow, some wind, reasonable sunshine, and the occasional odd mild 12c day followed by a cold spell. Maybe a storm or two (impossible here).

however, 3 months of 2/8c weather in fog, rain, high dewpoints with little sunshine and zero snow does not make me want to like winter, really.

Some years we are lucky to have the first example, at least for a while....

Last winter was not too bad, as it was sunny and we had a good episode of snowfall, but it was also really mild overall. I wish our winters were 5c colder. Our climate would become perfect.

As username implies I simply love winter. I take most of the winter off to travel to places that actually get tons of snow during winter. People are just made up different because I hate summer and come alive in the fall/winter!

Yeah, too many other factors that may contribute to this. Besides, why is more sex is necessarily better?

Where do you usually go? The UP of Michigan? The high country of Colorado? Sapporo, Japan?

And in case I haven't answered it yet before, no, I DO NOT hate winter! I miss it terribly. I want summer to be over so bad, it hurts.
