We have had fantastic weather in the past couple days. Highs in the 60's and lows around freezing.

Something G8RCAT might enjoy :

Unlike Florida though, the sun does not reappear after our summer storms, as it usually happens at sunset. So, once the clouds clear its typically dark already and starts cooling down. In the coast, it was 91 & 68. For us, it was more like 95 & 63 that day.

Current temp map. A good chunk of SW France above 80°F and temps in the mid-to-low 50°F behind the cold front:

Might get stormy weather tonight, some dark clouds to the west. Not sure whether to use the bike or subway, not much rain heading towards me on the radar.

Hmm, while Florida does get those tropical "passing by" type storms more than us, I wouldn't say "usually" ours happen after sunset. They usually happen after 1pm. We need that heat for convection that's why afternoon storms are more often than nighttime or morning around us.

1-11pm is our times with 4-7pm being the peak. Thunderstorms aren't associated with fronts or low pressures all the time so They can be pop up convection type storms which happen during the day and once it passes the sun comes right back. We need sun to create that instability.

I can probably find a ton of links where I posted the radar/clouds/storms from that day from pop ups where the sun came right back out.

But you peaked my curiosity. How many more times do we have cloudy days and storms rather then convection/pop up type storms?

Here's last year May 21st 5:35pm. Pop Up Storms with Satellite on

I'm thinking that too. Over an inch of snow as far south as Tennessee in April? Not realistic. Also 3 or 4 inches for Chi this late in the year is EXTREMELY rate

I still don't see see any extremes either way (cold or Hot) so we'll stay seasonable with few pops and drops with cold and warmth.

Here's GFS6z for max temps this coming Sunday. And no storms around. So Dry & Warm. Enjoy!

Here's the surface map for that day. that 850mb freezing line keeps retreating more north and north and the troughs are not deep anymore. That's why we been slowly moderating past couple weeks.

Lol, no sympathy from me.

You were gleeful all winter long. You tortured me through the long winter with image post after image showing just how cold the next arctic front would be.

So I wished upon you the coldest summer in 50 years, lol. I hope you have numerous days with the high temps struggling to hit 70F and rain. Nah nah nah................

I want that to happen in NJ. Highs stay below 85 F all summer long, with dry, breezy, and sunny weather interspersed with chilly rain .

If there is a southeast breeze all summer long I will be happy. Your temps will stay around 85F with nice warm ocean temps. It is only those SW winds which bring misery in summer.
