Wow, incredible overnight temperatures in Southern Alberta--I think from heat bursts? Check out Irvine: 30.5°C at 0500h.

Not sure if that would qualify as a heat burst. Maybe just winds carrying very hot air. Was there a jump to 30C or gradual warming overnight?

The largest jump was 8°C in one hour. Maybe just warm winds then.

8C in an hour at night seems like a lot. Especially considering it's warming to temperatures that are so unusual in the early AM hours. It's not like this is a 1 hour night-time increase from -4C to 4C in March while a warm front is moving in.

Had quite a dramatic rise here in early October 2004 - temperature was around 7C at midnight but 24C by 4:00am.

Was a foehn effect - while a gentle breeze here, very strong winds 20-50km inland that bowled over a million mature plantation pines.

How unusual is 24C at 4am in October? You October means are pretty similar to our means for late May/early June or September, and it's not unheard of to have lows of 24C or close at those times of the year. However, a low of 30C in Lethbridge is pretty unheard of, I think it would be extremely rare to get lows above 22-23C there in early September, let alone 30C.

Extremely unusual - even in mid summer it would be extremely rare.

Temperature was around 7C at midnight, but I don't know when the temperature started rising - it may have risen to 24C over a much shorter period.

While it reached 24C here, some people observed 27C.

Perhaps it was a foehn wind for Medicine Hat too, but the temperature spike that resulted was truly quite exceptional.

29.6C - 4AM, Sep 4, 2022
26.6C - 12AM, Aug 22, 2019 (23.9C at 4AM)

Been warm here too. For about 10 days straight.

Gotta tropical storm coming in tomorrow. Looks like I won't be riding the Triumph to work, like I usually do. Gotta take the cage. I hate taking the cage. But, it IS nice having a windshield (and wipers) and A/C, so there's that.
