New June record of 36.1°C in Oberndorf, Austria, at 11:30pm. What happened? Heat burst? Anybody speak German?

Could be a katabatic wind similar to the one that hit the Medicine Hat last September? Obendorf has mountains to the south so it could make sense. Also 36C doesn't seem that crazy of a June record considering the nearby Carpathian Basin gets a lot of 30C+ heat waves (even 35C+) in June.

That honestly is wild to think about. Seeing temperatures that high at midnight is something I haven't even seen here I believe. Seeing a temperature that high near midnight in Austria is just nuts......

Normal temperatures for that time of the night in that part of June would probably be around 16C? So about 20C above normal. For the heat spike at ~4am in southern Alberta last September, it was 30C when it would normally be more like 9-10C, so that was about 20C above normal too.

BTW I meant to say foehn/chinook winds, not katabatic. Did other towns in that part of Austria experience the midnight temperature spike?

Pampa, TX and surrounding areas had a pretty significant heat burst event early this morning, with at least one PWS soaring to 95 degrees at 1am. Also have seen reports of wind gusts reaching 90mph.
