He lives in Sweden - he'll be way colder than here in the first place.

I'm not talking about a frost hollow/valley in Northern Ireland.

So Central Leeds, Nottinghamshire, Devon etc all have lows of -8 and lower.

And Sweden isn't in eastern Europe

Well its pretty eastern to me.

I don't consider -8c to be noteworthy at all even a high of -8c.

That map clearly shows eastern Europe is influenced by Greenland

When I say a cold winter, I mean a winter such as 2010-11, or at least colder than 2012-2013.

A warm winter for me is an average low warmer than -2C, or an average high that's above 0C in January and February
The average lows for the 2013-14 season for November-March were 0.4, 0.4, -4.1, 0.2, 0.7 respectively.

Yeah but in a general winter you wouldn't get cold bursts coming down from Greenland as you are east of there.
Most of my cold weather comes from there

I don't think all of Canada will be above normal. I don't know how that model formulates this.

I think that eastern Canada will be below normal as the Polar jet will slide south if a Greenland Block develops.

However don't forget that the North Pacific SST are well above normal and will pump a ridge over western Canada, they should be warmer than normal.

I wonder if we will get both a Pacific Ridge and a Greenland Block this winter. A double whammy!
