POR is 1984

The high for today is forecast to be 1C (34F). It would be nice if we were to get our latest ice day on record, though I think it's rather unlikely as forecasts have been underestimating highs lately.

Wouldn't either April 6 or 7, 1982 have set that record?

Islip only has records as far back as 1984.

I didn't know about that. It was before Islip started keeping records, as TWG pointed out.

But now that you mention it, I researched it and I think that it's rather insane that it happened:

Weather History for Central Park, NY | Weather Underground

But not as insane as that 92F (33C) which happened on the same date in 2010!

SMHI doesn't do such stats but I'm sure back in the 1940's it was much earlier and later respectively than would be conceiveable today. So I'd guess early October and early May.

In my lifetime more like last few days of October and mid-April.

In Phoenix, never. There has never been a high temp below 0°C in Phoenix

I'll check the exact dates later, but for London the earliest ice day is in the first half of December, and the latest probably mid March.

No idea

Latest, I think is probably March. I've had 1/2 maxes in April, but it's hard to get an ice day due to daylength.
