Yes, your area has been crazy warm, still no frost or freeze yet, either!
I think it will hold off until the last week of October as some cooler air aloft comes back into the western US.

Did you see Texas? I know it's Texas but gees. 5-6 days in a row in the 90s in October is hard to fatham.

Lets see the atmosphere in action past few hours...

1. Front pushing off the Gulf Coast.

2. NW push into the Eastern U.S

3. Spin over Quebec is the Upper Low, behind it is the push of cold air which will come in 2 spurts.

Anyone wondering how things can happen... this should help visualize it better. Nothing but land to flow down over.

Interesting info I just came across..

We might be seeing signs of this "pattern" taking shape for winter because it is still so dry in the west so the sun beating down on the ground is not evaporating any moisture at all. It's just going right back into heating up the atmosphere which is going to tend to pump up that ridge which in turn brings a trough into the East. So until El Nino or something can beat down that Western ridge for good we'll be seeing these patterns continue.

we might get our first frost Sunday night into Monday morning. we might not reach 60 on Sunday . that's crazy and in my opinion a bit too early. normally that first frost doesn't hit till end of October so it will be a good 2 weeks early if it happens this Sunday. I hope it doesn't im trying to enjoy my fig fruits if a frost hits there goes this years fruits plus the tree has gotten massive and now with a frost it will stop growing and all its leaves will die.

My grandma grows figs in Florida. I don't eat them, though.
