Monthly record for that station is 82 F in 1972, 1978, 1982, 1991, and 2013. Interestingly, the max being reported for today there was only 78 F. I'm now wondering if those goons at the Statesboro airport left their thermometer in the sun

It's likely that 78 F was yesterday's high, as data for COOP stations are often for the 24 hours preceding the observation time in the morning.

Weird. I guess I'll have to wait until tomorrow to see, then. I'm hoping that 86 F turns out to be false. I shouldn't be competing with Naples, Florida for highest temperature in the lower 48

Much cooler today. It never got past the low 50's during the day. It got down to 44F in mid-morning.

Today's high was the temp at midnight of 76F before the cold front came thru. So it's still going to appear as a hot day if you look at the records...

A squall line came thru last night with the cold front bringing some thunder, but not as intense as expected. The stronger storms were to my north.

When I was out in the sun on the bike this afternoon, I was sweating, so yes it did.
