I hate winter upstate. In New York City the highs are always in the 30s and 40s while here we could be stuck in the teens for weeks at a time. I just want to be able to go outside without feeling sick
Not for cold, but for diurnal range. This morning Islip started out at 5F, and right now it's made it up to 47F. That's the biggest range I know of historically, and the day is not over. Temps still rising! I wonder if a 50F range is possible there in the future
Needless to say, Westhampton had a bigger range: -8 to 48F. I know they've gotten 50+ ranges before. Don't know about 60+. Doubt it.
Here in Aurora, ME, 25F snowing lightly with accumulation of about 2 1/2". Wind, SSE 28mph, Gusts 53! Rain is suppose to begin in about 12 minutes! I'm actually praying against the ice and wind! Otherwise, it looks pretty grim for the commute - especially with the wind - causing power outages, possible property damages, etc.
Interesting warmer at 1600 feet in the Whites than here. Temperature inversion going on. 26°F. There was light drizzle overnight, rain made unshoveled sidewalks more crunchy than slippery. Roads seem quieter than usual.
