April 10th update..

Top 20 snowiest NWS locations.

  • Even though Caribou is below normal, they are battling out for 2nd place.
  • Buffalo added 2.8" yesterday bringing their season total to 55.1. Not enough for the Top 20
  • Sioux Falls, SD with 68.5" for the season, that's over 2 feet above normal
  • Marquette will be #1 as typically should be. Caribou & Bangor were 2nd & 3rd last yr. Bangor only has 44.6" this year

And here are the Climo sites that have the most snow this season compared to normal to date.

Islip & JFK Top 10.

Islip got 23.7" from the Jan 23rd Blizzard. But then got another 15.8" after that. Had 1.1" before it.

Since Yakutat, AK didn't make the top 20 list to date, its departure from average would be over 100 inches less than normal.

Valdez, AK is also over 100 inches shy of their historical average. Latest update shows them at 178 inches for the year.

SNOW HISTORY: Valdez 4/11 AM Thompson Pass 4/11 AM
Current Snow Depth 39″ 79″
24 Hour Snow / Water Equiv. 0” /0.3″ 1″ / 0.3″
Storm Snow / Water Equiv. (4/6-11) 0” / 3.5” 14″ / 2.3″

Just checked and apparently it's not showing up in the CLI reports which is where I get my data from. Otherwise it would be #1 obviously.

Fairbanks has 60" for the season so just missed the Top 20. About normal for them to date.

Thanks for the heads up.
