Germany they sell it in bakeries and in vending machines on the street. Can't beat that.

I reply, basically, in vague terms, saying that it's very rare for supermarkets or other non-liquor stores in NJ to sell booze, because of how liquor licenses are given out. But that you occasionally can - it's just very rare. The women in front of me didn't even know that you could do that in NJ - which I can understand not knowing.

The women in front of me then asked where she was from - she said California.

I do have a vague understanding that buying booze in supermarkets is common in other parts of the country - most likely California too.

I guess she had tried to go into the supermarket to find the beer she was buying.

Saw her in the parking lot too - the car had a Florida tag on it. Must have been a rental. Wonder what she was traveling here for, but didn't ask.
So you have to go to a dedicated liquor store just to get beer? That seems weird.

In New Jersey, in *almost* all cases, yes.

I figure she also may have tried a convenience store as well... I don't remember exactly what she said, or whether she mentioned supermarkets specifically, but I understood where she was coming from - i.e., the surprise you're expressing as well. And I know in certain other states, booze can be bought in supermarkets & convenience stores. It's not against the law in NJ, but the complicated laws about the dispensation of liquor licenses are designed to keep it to an extreme minimum.

I've been tracking the whole "Brexit" thing carefully. Watching the British government in standoff mode is pretty entertaining to say the least.

Found this young little bird on the street before the house (I think it's a goldfinch) and put him in a shrub in the garden. I hope his parents will find and feed him before the neighbour's cat does.

Spoiler

Lol. During the second half Atlantas got 20 more red cards and we won 2-0.

Kronan123's team won their opponent 5-0. From Wales or something.

In other news, we have this media personality called Axl Smith. Well, he's a rather good-looking guy, and he got caught by recording sex tapes in his home in secret. Now the case is under criminal investigation, and 43 of the victims have been identified by the police. But well, at least you can say that the guy got laid a lot.

I can't believe that you cannot buy alcohol in supermarkets in NJ! That's just weird. Even in Malta, possibly one of the most backwards countries on earth, you can You can even get a beer in McDonald's here...
