My sister went from NYC suburb to Atlanta to near Buffalo. Hates them all. Lol One didnt give enough break from heat, another was too humid, one was too cold and snowy. She prefers cold over heat but I think February 2015 made her change her opinion on the Buffalo area.
Whoa Cambium, I'm sorry. I just noticed this post! I appreciate the positive vibes man.

And lol, perhaps your sister would be happy in San Diego? Or perhaps somewhere in between Atlanta and Buffalo, Lexington, KY?

I used to live in North GA back in 2006-2008 and even up there I found the climate to be too hot much of the time, I felt like spring came way too early and fall came too late. Winter was far too unreliable. And this was coming from someone who moved there from Miami, so a much warmer climate lol. I think I can do fine in Minneapolis, obviously I'm not comparing North GA to Minneapolis but if I found North GA much too warm I think I can deal fine.

North GA seems to be in a poor location for snow. Upstate SC gets more.

It does, seems like Northern AL receives more snow as well. I think the positioning is bad, Northern AL seems to get more of a direct influx of both Gulf moisture and cold air from the north, two key elements in a southern snowstorm. Upstate SC seems to fare better with cold air damming from the east than North GA.

Elliot Abrams on upcoming weather for Northeast US after this recent cold shot.

Northeast to recover from the chill but not turn real warm - Northeast U.S. Weather Blog Weather Blog

The two important points he makes are:

4. Thursday and perhaps Friday will be dry and somewhat milder across the Northeast, but a low pressure area from the southwest could be a factor next weekend.

5. A warmup is likely from the Plains into the western Great Lakes at the end of the week and through next weekend. It is uncertain when any of that warmth will reach the Northeast.

I keep saying all the warmth they keep talking about coming just never seems to materialize.

As stated over and over, look at the huge ridge in the GOA. Classic warm PDO. Far stronger than anything in the East. And no SE ridge in sight.

I think that the second half of May will be slightly below average, perhaps with another monster trough over the Northeast for a day or two. Can't see any 80s at all the next two weeks
