It can get quite hot in July and August. Stuffy too if you are in the middle of Athens. I remember the years I used to travel there before most homes had AC. It was very hard to sleep.
Over all a B. Winters are mild, but not mild enough, if I didn't want cool damp weather. Lack of thunderstorms (from what I'm used to) also make it somewhat boring.
it's dry heat during the summer though. It is more bearable like this
It is, and 35C in Athens feels more like when it's about 31C in Chicago, but Athens is in a valley and if you are away from the sea shore, it feels very stuffy. No air circulates. I was in Athens back in August of 2001 when there was a pretty bad heat wave. I literally slept on balcony every night.

That's true. The south suburbs next to the sea are usually 3-4C cooler in the daytime during July and August compared to downtown Athens due to the sea breeze. On the other hand if you go in further inland areas such as Nea Filadelfeia, which is located at the very centre of the Attica Basin, it can get very hot and stuffy. It's not rare during the daytime in the summer to see differences between inland areas of Athens (i.e Nea Filadelfeia) and southern suburbs next to the sea (i.e Glyfada) of up to 10C or more!
D- because it's way too hot for too long, and it's quite boring. The cool and somewhat rainy winter saves it from an F.
