The average temperatures for July were pretty much exactly average but there was very little deviation at all, with barely a 2C difference between the averages and records. April, May, and June this year all had (slightly) warmer record highs than July.

It was also apparently very cloudy especially in the first half of the month, though I was out-of-town for a few weeks so I missed a lot of it. I did notice most of the grass was green when I got back in the second half of the month, which is very unusual at that time of the year.

Rain days: 6

A hot and dry month. Extremely stable though with only a 16 degree high spread.

7th warmest July and 8th warmest month by mean temp
Record warm low max
13th driest July
Tied for 8th most 90 degree days in a July
This will be an unusual Dsa year (Csa if you use the idiotic 26.6 threshold)

It's amazing how quickly things dry out around the south. There were plenty of non-native, generic plantings of trees in parking lots of major stores that have completely fried or have been losing their leaves due to the heat. Where do you get your information on droughts?

Pretty good total then. Guess who would be displeased at the highish sunshine and lowish rainfall?

Yep, even here we have trees that fried since june. There are multiple sources to get the drought monitor map, this is the one I use. This link is beneficial for information on the south.

Home Page | Southeast Regional Climate Center this is the main page

United States Drought Monitor > Home drought monitor page

Columbia stats for July 2016:

Average max: 99.2, second hottest on record, losing out only to 1986

Average low: 75.2, hottest on record now

Mean: 87.2, new hottest on record. So now Columbia's hottest month ever is July 2016.

Raindall: 1.79 inches.

0.1 off 200, god that's cringeworthy

It's probably somewhere between 205-210 hours, looking at the data.
