Just found out... the 17F the other morning here at Islip was the earliest such occurrence since 2010 here. So, it's more impressive than it seemed.

In other news, MSP only bottomed out at -20 this morning: impressive but 5F off the record for this century. Chicago will be interesting to watch tonight.

(sorry, posted this in the wrong thread before)

So I checked out the cfs on pivotal weather for kicks since it goes out to hour 768. All I saw was epic warmth with +25 anomalies. Lmao, sure I would love that.

Will be cold... Western suburbs in the Fox River Valley (sort of a frost hollow) are already down to -7F at 6PM. They'll dip to around -20F for sure by the morning. ORD/MDW around -10F I think...

Amazing. But 78F was the lowest it had been in the past 6 hours at that point. At the 12:53 obs it had already risen to 79.

It's 80 there now at 7:00. Will the low hold?

I don't see any reason why it wouldn't. Powerful southerly flow should continue for the next couple days. Regarding the low temperature I just have a feeling it will go in as 78F we'll see. All-Time record either way.

Oddly enough it's "only" 76.7F at my house, strangely warm inland.

Hard for anywhere in the L.A metro area to get an overnight low of 79F in summer, let alone the heart of winter.

You can see where the fronts pushed through today. I wish the graph showed more detail, but thankfully the temp/humidity/pressure data is saved to a file that can be exported to Numbers/Excel.

Interesting you had sun. I had none.

Do you have Cumulus Software? Wonder if it will work with your station. Its a free software and has a bunch of details PLUS puts your numbers into a NOAA monthly format and keeps records and extremes..

No idea. If we continue the split flow with a Pacific flow there's going to be lots of Ups and Downs. I thought La Nina was supposed to have 1 Jet stream? lol

Euro showing this exact thing next week. You would think even with a Death SER storms would simply track towards the Mid Atlantic. Nope. They love those 5 Lakes. lol

We'll never get a Miller B with this setup!

I've seen some parts of San José below freezing this morning.

Yup really Arctic blast here. Not bad for 41.5N latitude

Temps dropping like a rock. 6PM ORD down to -2F, Aurora -8F, and I'm at -2F as well... Clear skies tonight. Look out.

Winds are starting to pick up.... Check out the wind chills in many spots
