They missed Australia, most of Russia and China.

Wood anemone flowering here, saw them first yesterday.

1040.5 hPa today, new May record. And we also set a new record high for barometer pressure in Oct 2016, and in March and September 2015. Have the warmer arctic seas allowed Highs to develop more strongly further north? The strongest highs were usually in winter at my latitude, but no records in winter recently. We have a long observation period.

Last edited by Jakobsli; 05-04-2017 at 03:01 PM.. Reason: new high pressure records

Chives began growing in February and flowered earlier this week. Haven't used any yet.

People are "surprised" because of the cold daytime highs more than the lows. I don't see a single high below 17 C there. At 40 N, there were highs below 10 C yesterday, hell even at 36 N there were highs below 10 C.

Show me a day with a below freezing high at 26 degrees south and at sea level, then I'll be impressed.

Not possible, but below freezing temperature has already been registered before, and this is not the point, I'm not saying here that South America winters are colder than in North America
What I'm saying is the Southern Hemisphere is more prone to late season cold snaps due to the cold ocean.
You can see that by looking the spring/summer record lows on many places in Southern Hemisphere.
