Rained here last night, I honestly couldn't tell you why there is all this scaremongering going on (as usual), temperature here around 7 degree C highs..............which equates to normal for January. Apparantly the news outlets have said that February will be cold...........................isn't that what February always is!?

The UK hasn’t had a really cold February for 33 years. It might have escaped your attention but winters in the UK are normally quite mild.
snow / rain mix here today afternoon. It doesn't stick yet but I can see it becoming an inch or two if it continues all night. Next few days should be rather cold, but we should always remain around freezing point, so no big deal really.
Words like "cold" and "mild" are subjective - the UK is considered "mild" for its latitude, though I personally find its winters to be cold. For me "mild" is 14-20°C, whatever the season, but I live in what is far from my ideal climate.

Turning exceptionally cold at the beginning of February.

Mild? UK winters are cold, Pershore's mean temperature in January is 4.5°C.
That’s not cold.
