Houston is certainly gonna have a hot week. Lots of days around 100F/38C in the heart of the city. Around the same here too.

Feels like the beginning of July again here. Cool and cloudy in the forecast. Was sprinkling this morning here and some more rain this weekend as well apparently.

^^^^^^^

Has the atmosphere begun to transition into a La Niña yet Chicagogeorge? Also, don’t La Niña episodes usually mean warmer and drier falls than normal in the plains and Midwest?

But there is no cloud in the sky now. It was foggy in the morning though which is weird for August.

It got up to 98F yesterday, hottest temp so far of the year. I guess the temp spiked between hours since the hourly obs looked like this.

I haven't had any rain since deluge last Tuesday. There had been some decent storm chances the past couple of days but not much has been forming over central LA for some reason. Continued hot temps and precip chances not too great the next few days...

The weather in Pittsburgh seems to have dried out and become markedly more pleasant since the Steelers reported to training camp on July 25. Here's how the weather in Pittsburgh has shaken out in the last 13 days, from July 25-August 6:

Average high: 84.7°F
Average low: 64.1°F
Average: 74.4°F

Total precipitation: 0.67"
Average sky cover: 4.2 (out of 10)

In nearby Latrobe, where Steelers training camp is, word from the coaches is that they've had only one wet practice so far in camp, and it appears that they finished their practice today before any thunderstorms started firing up in the area.

Tomorrow, there's a high probability of thunderstorms with the passage of a cold front, but the team has the day off in preparation for their first pre-season game against the Buccaneers at Heinz Field on Friday. And the forecast in Pittsburgh on game day is as perfect as the weather was on the day the players reported to camp, with mostly sunny skies, low humidity, no chance of precipitation, high temperatures in the upper 70s, and low temperatures in the upper 50s.

Back in Latrobe, the next chance of rain after tomorrow won't be until the middle of next week, and the Steelers break camp on August 15, so there's a chance that they'll have no more than three wet practices for the entire duration of camp this year, if even that many. The weather for Steelers training camp has been as good as it gets this time of year.
