The forecast is still showing 6C on Thursday but I'll believe it when I see it. The high of 7.0C that we had on the 2nd was the joint-coldest May day in 19 years, so to get a high of 6C in the middle of the month is close to the edge of what seems to be possible.

The averages for May are 14.3/5.9, and it looks like we'll be about 2C below that by mid-month.

Strangely that's not much colder than the ones we recently got in Paris. Got a 7.4°C high on this very date 5 years ago.

Quite the cold front in Toulouse mid next week:

93°F to 69°F to 60°F. I kinda miss the few bouts of volatile weather the rest of France gets from time to time. Here we'll go from 23°C to 19°C.

Any hints on what the weather will be in Paris the week of the 19th-26th?

I know it's probably way too early, but it'd be nice to allay any fears of a monster heat wave while I'm there (no AC where I'm staying).

Also, does Paris typically get thunderstorms in May? Thunderstorms have been lacking here this spring - it'd be a real treat to see some while I'm there - even a bit of rain would be nice. Anything but heat and wall-to-wall sunshine - I get plenty of that here...lol.

High of 47°F on the 19th, 2007 was one of the chillier May days recently. May 13, 2010 also had a high of 47°F (was an above average May overall, and also had the hottest May temperature on record — 98°F). Nothing as prolonged as yours but we've have had some cold days.

This May was consigned to the scrap heap a long time ago but it's even worse than I thought. A 9C high midway through the month would be remarkable. In fact I don't think we are going to exceed 20C at all this month. That has ever happened before, not in my life time at least.

The last time we had a good April and a terrible May was 2003 so we can only hope that the summer that follows is the same..

I'd assume if Paris is getting thunderstorms, it'd be too hot for you. My guess is the few thunderstorms Paris gets won't till summer.

Lyon being Lyon:

Who said European weather was boring ?

While I prefer Bologna's more stable summers and heavier snowfalls in winter, shoulder seasons are much better here. That and lower dew points overall. I don't think I'd see a 17 degrees drop in two days overthere every year.
